New trolley wrap for 2017 San Diego Comic-Con promotes The Gifted, an upcoming Marvel series on FOX.
I spotted a third new trolley wrap for 2017 San Diego Comic-Con! This cool wrap promotes the upcoming FOX series The Gifted, which will concern Marvel’s universe of mutant X-Men. Looks like the Sentinel Services mutant transport will be filled with gifted Comic-Con attendees this year! Hopefully it transports them to the convention center, and not somewhere less pleasant!
I spoke to an MTS supervisor at America Plaza and he believes there will be one more wrap this year!
The Gifted will be based on Marvel’s popular X-Men characters.During San Diego Comic-Con, lots of mutants will be transported on this Sentinel Services vehicle. I wonder if it’s made of plastic. Magneto might make an appearance!

Conan O’Brien is returning to San Diego Comic-Con in 2017. Some trolleys are wrapped with images of Conan as four different Funko Pop! toys.
Here are some photos of the new Conan O’Brien trolley wrap for 2017 San Diego Comic-Con! I spied two trolley cars with this wrap on my way home from work aboard the Green Line.
This is the third year in a row Conan will be hosting his funny TBS talk show at the Spreckels Theatre during Comic-Con. And, as before, the trolley wraps feature him transformed into four different Funko Pop! characters.
This year Conan appears as Justice League member the Flash, as a Game of Thrones White Walker, as Marvel’s ever-popular superhero Spiderman, and finally as a Star Wars Jedi holding a lightsaber.

The very first trolley wrap for 2017 San Diego Comic-Con has appeared! Here are a bunch of photos!
Characters from the upcoming FOX television show The Orville appear on this cool wrap. The humorous science fiction series is created by and stars Seth MacFarlane, so chances are it’s going to be really good.
I spoke to various people who work for MTS–a couple of trolley drivers and others–and learned the wraps are being applied to many cars right now. I can’t wait to see what else materializes!
I’m going to blog about downtown San Diego during Comic-Con like crazy this year. So follow along if you’d like! It should be a lot of fun!

A bunch of fun, colorful Japanese video game characters have been painted on several utility boxes near the center of National City. I spotted them while walking near the intersection of National City Boulevard and East 8th Street.
A whole universe of video game characters created over the years in Japan have contributed in a very big way to our popular culture. From Sonic the Hedgehog to Mario to the magical creatures of Pokémon, they populate video games, television shows, movies, comic books, toys . . and, as you can see, even some really fun street art!

Wile E. Coyote in a business suit disguise. He secretly peers out of a window at the Chuck Jones Gallery. He’s hoping The Road Runner might zoom on by.
Wile E. Coyote was spotted this morning peering secretly from a window in downtown San Diego. Dressed in business attire, which was almost certainly a clever disguise, the patient cartoon character seemed to be waiting for his breakfast: The Road Runner.
As I walked down Fifth Avenue by the window in question Wile E. Coyote remained perfectly still. Like a cat. He appeared ready to activate another of his diabolical schemes. For a moment I hesitated with vague fear, searching the sidewalk and building above for a dangling anvil, a rocket or a large spring. Nothing.
And so, breathing a sigh of relief, I safely walked past the Chuck Jones Gallery in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter.

Who doesn’t know Joan Embery? As a frequent guest on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, as Goodwill Ambassador for the San Diego Zoo, and as an international spokesperson for animal conservation, Joan Embery is loved by people all around the world. She is truly a San Diego legend.
So it’s fitting that the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center is now showing an exhibition about her life and career, titled Joan Embery’s My Animal World.
It was my first visit to this museum, and I was surprised to discover such a fine exhibition. Viewing all the displays gave me a great deal of pleasure. They brought back so many San Diego memories.
These few photographs only provide a small taste of what you will see at the museum. If you’re in San Diego, you really ought to head over to Bonita and check it out. The exhibition runs through December 3, 2016.
The Bonita Museum and Cultural Center is hosting a great exhibition about San Diego legend Joan Embery through December 3, 2016.An elephant saddle is one of many cool artifacts on display at the Joan Embery’s My Animal World exhibition.Many photos show Joan Embery through the years–in Bonita, at the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, travelling the world, and on the Pillsbury Ranch.Joan Embery was born in San Diego and was raised by a family who loved animals. As a kid, she never could get enough pets.In Junior High School, Joan Embery took horse riding lessons in Bonita. From an early age she dreamt of having her own horse.Wonderful photos of Joan Embery with Carol the Elephant. The two became good friends when Joan worked at the San Diego Zoo. She would become the zoo’s world-famous Goodwill Ambassador.Display at the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center documents a moment in the life and career of Joan Embery.Ms. Zoofari. While working at the San Diego Zoo, Joan learned about different animal behaviors and about daily zoo tasks.Today, the 50-acre Pillsbury Ranch is the home of Joan Embery and her husband Duane Pillsbury. Students visiting the ranch learn about the many different exotic animals that live there.Joan Embery’s Tack Room with many related photographs can be found at her museum exhibit in Bonita. Above all, she loves riding horses.Joan oversees The Embery Institute for Wildlife Conservation. OH MY! Dick Enberg was congratulated and celebrated at the final 2016 home game of the San Diego Padres.
Dick Enberg, sports broadcasting legend and beloved Padres television broadcaster for the past seven years, was celebrated tonight by his colleagues and thousands of fans. 2016 is Dick Enberg’s final season broadcasting for the San Diego Padres. And tonight was the final home game of the Padres’ season.
I was at the game. I wasn’t able to take good photos of the ceremony at home plate, but I did capture some memorable images from the videoboard.
I remember watching Dick Enberg when I was a child. He has become a part of the American culture. The Olympics, Super Bowls, Wimbledon, the Masters–his voice has been attached to so many sporting events and championships. Like many San Diego Padres fans, I will miss seeing him and hearing his voice.

Outside 2016 San Diego Comic-Con, in the park directly in front of the Bayfront Hilton, the FX television channel has created a uniquely interesting FXhibition! The exhibition includes six cool busts of characters that have appeared on various FX shows. A couple of the sculptured heads are eerily lifelike. Take a look!

Seeing so many super creative costumes is one reason I love walking around during Comic-Con. It’s an opportunity for individuals to find unabashed joy in their own personal creativity. It’s all about fantasy and imagination come to life. People young and old can choose to be whatever they choose to be. It’s all good. And it’s all fun!

Looks like the Jack Kirby version.This cosplay, I believe, is Victarion Greyjoy, from Game of Thrones.The Suicide Squad movie is coming up. This is the original Harley Quinn with an absurdly huge hammer. A little more humor in this version, perhaps.Cosplay of long-time movie hero Zorro!Cosplay from the original Tron. He thought the first movie was best.I was informed this is just a purple fuzzy creature with long ears!
