It wouldn’t be Comic-Con without tons of awesome cosplay all over the place!
Today, Friday, it was easy to spot cosplay every which way while walking near the San Diego Convention Center.
When the opportunity arose, and action poses were struck, my camera was clicking away!
This is one of those things that makes walking outside Comic-Con such an adventure every year. The experience is exhilarating, surprising, and you don’t want it to ever end!

The extraordinary exhibition, which occupies nearly all of the Comic-Con Museum’s large first floor, celebrates the history of Spider-Man.
Visitors can see dozens of pieces of original art used in the creation of the comic books, and important props from many of Spider-Man’s immensely popular movies. The superhero’s appearance on television and in video games is also documented.
I spent a full hour today just reading the many displays and viewing incredible, historic artwork.
Originally drawn from the imaginations of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Spider-Man has evolved over time, as new writers and artists have built on Spidey’s complex story. Societal norms and comic book sensibilities have shifted over the decades, but one thing has been fairly consistent. Spider-Man represents a youthful, optimistic “everyman” hero, who copes with life’s ordinary problems while battling fantastic villains.
A good crowd had already arrived as the museum opened at ten o’clock this morning, and I saw numerous families and excited kids–many wearing Spider-Man shirts and costumes. There are many opportunities to take selfies, and the atmosphere created inside the dynamic exhibition is truly exciting.
Walking through, I felt my old passion for Spider-Man flaring again. The exhibition makes it obvious why the wall-crawler remains one of the all-time favorite pop culture icons!
During Comic-Con, a shuttle bus will run between the San Diego Convention Center and the Comic-Con Museum. I encourage Comic-Con attendees to come up to Balboa Park and check out the exhibition. It’s well worth the time and effort!
Spider-Man: Beyond Amazing will continue at the Comic-Con Museum through the end of 2022.

The first reviews of Spider-Man: No Way Home are coming in and it’s going to be awesome! By all accounts the movie is going to be an epic multiversal thrill ride that brings laughs, tears, fond memories and cheers! Are you stoked, too?
Did you know that Spider-Man makes his home in San Diego? It sure seems that way. Because I see him in the city frequently. At least, I see a lot of him when Comic-Con comes around!
Enjoy this collection of Spider-Man cosplay photos that I’ve taken over many years of walking around downtown during San Diego Comic-Con. If you’d like to see hundreds of cool photographs of Comic-Con related stuff, just click here!

For many years, a mighty team of superheroes has stood guard at the entrance to El Cajon. As I walked past the motley, costumed group on Saturday, I noticed they were fending off a variety of dangerous supervillains and otherworldly menaces!
I immediately recognized some of the universe’s most powerful heroes. I saw Thor, Spider-Man, Hellboy, Yoda, Batman, Superman, Hulk and Wolverine. Together they were engaged in an epic battle against evil on the wall of Comics-N-Stuff, on El Cajon Boulevard!
A clerk at the comic book store told me this huge, fun mural was painted about 14 years ago by a local artist. It has really faded in El Cajon’s sunshine over time, so I’ve increased the contrast of various photographs.
Will Doc Ock and Venom get past Spidey and invade the city of El Cajon? I doubt it!

Cool comic book superheroes, villains and other characters are spray painted on a long wall in Logan Heights!
Check out this awesome spray paint street art on a wall south of the intersection of 31st Street and Commercial Street in Logan Heights! It’s loaded with comic book superheroes, villains and other cool characters!
The mural is a work currently in progress. Today I was fortunate to meet the primary artist, who goes by the name Fizix. I learned that most of the characters in the large, colorful mural are his artwork. I also learned that additional work on this very cool mural is by the artist ABSO.
Does the name Fizix ring a bell? Perhaps you’ve seen his work here and here. Because I photograph so much street art all around San Diego, it’s possible his work appears elsewhere on Cool San Diego Sights and I simply don’t realize it.
Fizix is actually Alex Julian, a talented artist in San Diego who can be found @alexfizix. His blog, which features some really good graphic novel art and his bio, can be enjoyed here.
His expertise is illustration, book covers, digital art, murals, horror caricatures and comic book coloring. His artwork has a distinctive style that I really like.
Check out the following photos!

A neighbor in Logan Heights loves old school Jazz, so Fizix included this cool musician in the large mural.
Another neighbor in Logan Heights has a dog that resembles this cool spray paint artwork by Fizix!
This very awesome sunset portion of the mural is by the artist ABSO. It looks like the sort of street art one might find in Ocean Beach.

It’s the whole Spiderman and Venom gang! Looks like they overpowered Captain America and got his shield!
It’s Thursday and 2018 San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing!
The Gaslamp Quarter was starting to get a little crazy when I walked through in the early afternoon. Fifth Avenue wasn’t packed absolutely full like sardines, however. But I know that it will be!
Enjoy some more photos of creative cosplay and a variety of fun stuff!
Ghostbusters cosplay in the Gaslamp during 2018 San Diego Comic-Con.
Much of the cosplay I didn’t recognize. Including this guy!
Cosplay of Marvel superhero Silk.
I see Cap has his shield back. Now he’s gotta go find Thanos.
Syfy Bingo Trolleys were going around the Gaslamp full of contestants.
This friendly Syfy gang ran out of swag bags but promised to be back with many more!
Here comes a small mobile billboard towed by a bicycle. Cool graphic, whatever the heck you’re promoting.
I poked my camera for a quick shot inside the Peanuts Pop-Up Shop. I see psychedelic Snoopy and Charlie Brown!
Comic-Con fans line up by the Good Plates restaurant to get into The Good Place.
Doctor Strange is about to cast a spell on me! Hopefully I don’t go looping through time endlessly. After only four days of Comic-Con, I’ll already be completely worn out.
This poor guy near the DC Universe Experience desperately needs 2 more dragonballs. Good luck!
Cosplay from Cyberpunk Galaxy Wonderland! Whatever that is!
A great cosplay of Shredder from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Polite, well-groomed bellhops were out promoting upcoming movie Bad Times at the El Royale.
That’s either a tiny T-Rex or one gigantic human rider!
This Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan bus clearly needs to fetch more people.
It’s the Coneheads!
The happy X-Men family!
Someone please inform the G.I. Joe Team that COBRA has been spotted secretly infiltrating San Diego.
Fortunately, I found some more heroic Avengers. It’s Black Widow (the red-haired version) and Ant Man!
Is 91X Man part of a superhero group? No, that radio station might play music by some supergroups, though.
Talk about a super group. That’s a big group of humanity on MLK Promenade.
This guy was handing out Den of Geek magazines. I got one for my coworker. He was an authentic nerd before being a nerd became cool.
Of course, I knew I’d run into a Star Wars Stormtrooper during my travels.
Another big line around Dead Quarters. I’ll go brave a line or two tomorrow, I suppose.
The Syfy Wire interviews a Jack Sparrow-like pirate in the Gaslamp Quarter during 2018 Comic-Con.
Goodness! Golf Vader has returned to Comic-Con! Something must be done about this!
Great cosplay at 2018 San Diego Comic-Con. Riddler, Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy!

Conan O’Brien is returning to San Diego Comic-Con in 2017. Some trolleys are wrapped with images of Conan as four different Funko Pop! toys.
Here are some photos of the new Conan O’Brien trolley wrap for 2017 San Diego Comic-Con! I spied two trolley cars with this wrap on my way home from work aboard the Green Line.
This is the third year in a row Conan will be hosting his funny TBS talk show at the Spreckels Theatre during Comic-Con. And, as before, the trolley wraps feature him transformed into four different Funko Pop! characters.
This year Conan appears as Justice League member the Flash, as a Game of Thrones White Walker, as Marvel’s ever-popular superhero Spiderman, and finally as a Star Wars Jedi holding a lightsaber.
Enjoy these photos! I’ll keep watching for new SDCC trolley wraps in the days ahead!
For the third year in a row, TBS television talk show host Conan O’Brien has been transformed by Funko into four famous pop culture characters.
Conan O’Brien has become the fastest man alive–The Flash!
This trolley wrap image has Conan turned into a White Walker from Game of Thrones.
Conan is hanging upside down from the roof of the trolley. He is your friendly neighborhood Spiderman!
Or perhaps Conan is actually a Star Wars Jedi. Is he a Gray Jedi?
San Diego Comic-Con is on the way, and lots of trolleys are appearing with a variety of cool wraps!
