Fans of the television classic 3rd Rock from the Sun will have a chance to meet one of its stars this afternoon at Comic-Con 2022!
French Stewart, who played the silly character Harry Solomon, will be interacting with fans at 2:30 pm near the COZI TV activation, on a patch of grass just outside the Omni hotel, across from the San Diego Convention Center.
I don’t know if he’ll be interrupted by a transmission from the Big Giant Head, but I suppose you’ll have to be present to find out!
French Stewart was at a private event earlier this morning when these photos were snapped.
I won’t post the photo, but I observed him shaking the hands of someone special across the rope who was a very big fan. I could see from the sudden tears it was a very big and meaningful moment in a life.

Bob’s Burgers is being celebrated during Comic-Con in the craziest, most unique way imagineable!
Have you ever eaten a donut that contains a hamburger?
Hurry down to the world-famous Donut Bar this Friday morning, July 22, and you can eat one of the tasty hamburger-inside-a-donut concoctions. It’s called the I Donut Not Want a Donut Burger. (Yes, English teachers, that’s a double negative.)
I’ve already devoured one. Believe it or not, they’re really, really, really great!
You’ll also see the super friendly Donut Bar crew dressed up as the Belcher family characters from Bob’s Burgers!
The Donut Bar is located at 631 B Street. If you’re attending Comic-Con and want a very cool experience, swing on by this morning before the donuts are sold out!

Enjoy a fun collection of photographs taken during a walk outside Comic-Con this afternoon!
In addition to many cosplay photos, which I’ll post shortly, my camera captured lots of smiles and laughter.
I experienced many things.
I saw a vampire fly. I saw a flying shark. I listened to Karma sing. I saw five Sherlock Holmes. I saw a walking pickle. I got a smile and a free poster from local radio station 91X. I got a smile and some licorice from Wiley Wallaby. I saw Thor wield a huge hammer. I watched a crazy whack-a-mole.
I laughed, too!

It’s Thursday morning outside Comic-Con! The fun is ramping up!
I spotted more and more cosplay as fans streamed through the Gaslamp toward the San Diego Convention Center. Lines were already forming at the offsite activations, most of which open at ten o’clock. And a huge mass of humanity was crossing Harbor Drive, heading into their first day of Comic-Con!
I got a free NFT from those two guys above! They’re promoting a brand new game on Gamisodes called Inspector Gadget. (Which explains the very first photo of this blog post.)
Grab a redeemable card if you walk down MLK Promenade and happen to see a bunch of Inspector Gadgets!

You might want to swing by the Pendry San Diego hotel to sink your teeth into some Comic-Con inspired donuts!
When I went this morning, I saw a bunch of freshly made superhero donuts and Star Wars donuts. All were created by the folks at the world-famous Donut Bar, so you know they’re tasty good!
Look for the following sign on Fifth Avenue at J Street, and head into the hotel!

Local artist Optimus Volts can be found during Comic-Con at the Chuck Jones Pop Up Gallery.
I wandered into the pop up gallery yesterday afternoon, where I met Optimus Volts at a table displaying his work.
In addition to creating several really cool sculptures, he’d painted comic book covers and baseball cards, reimagining them using his own unique vision. Many of the superheroes and baseball players were given sugar skulls and surrounded with imagery associated with Mexico’s Day of the Dead!
Check it out!
Yes, that’s a baseball card of San Diego Padres hero Tony Gwynn!
Optimus Volts and other artists will be meeting the public and selling pieces of their work inside the Chuck Jones Comic-Con Pop Up Gallery through Sunday! The pop up gallery is located at 530 Sixth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter.

It’s finally Preview Night at Comic-Con 2022. And the fun has already begun!
Crowds are gathering and offsite activations are nearly ready, or actually open in some cases, such as The Gray Man Training Program by NETFLIX.
A bit of cosplay is appearing here and there.
Lots of fans, many with swag bags slung over shoulders, are getting a peek inside the convention center, before Comic-Con “officially” begins tomorrow!
I walked around outside in the late afternoon with my camera to capture a little bit of the fun!

Workers at many activations are in a hurry to complete the downtown “offsite” attractions that will welcome huge crowds beginning tomorrow.

Are you going to Comic-Con this year? If so, prepare to have lots of fun!
I walked around downtown San Diego this morning, Wednesday, the day of Comic-Con Preview Night. Most of the following photos were taken in the vicinity of the San Diego Convention Center or Petco Park.
Most offsites are approaching completion, but it looks like a few are still just setting up in the Interactive Zone at Petco Park. It’s impressive how quickly various activations are assembled and readied for the public with just hours to go.
I’ve already photographed tons of stuff on walks during the past few days. Here’s some new discoveries I noticed this morning…
Krapopolis graphics are now all over the place at the FOX offsite, which includes a big slide! The Bandai offsite near the Marriott Marina now has lots of huge action figures providing awesome Dragon Ball photo opportunities!Comic-Con attendees will be soon be lining up along the bayfront, even camping overnight to get good spots for favorite panels and exclusives. The IMDb boat has returned to Comic-Con. A good place to watch for Hollywood celebrities crossing over from the convention center for interviews.Willard R.
