Crushing It. A cool new mural just completed in San Diego’s East Village at the corner of Park Boulevard and J Street.
Last week I noticed a new mural was being painted on a building wall in East Village. I glimpsed the preliminary outlines as I passed by on the trolley, which was heading along Park Boulevard just south of the Market Street station.
Well, today I observed that this very cool mural has been completed! You can find it at the intersection of Park Boulevard and J Street. Apparently titled Crushing It, this colorful spray paint art was created by Carly Ealey and Christopher Konecki of Cohort Collective, a group of local artists who have awesome urban artwork all over San Diego!

Fonzie’s motorcycle and leather jacket from Happy Days is on display at the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park!
There are lots of good reasons to visit the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park. They’ve got all sorts of one-of-a-kind cars that you won’t find anywhere else. They also have a very cool motorcycle that you might have seen on television. That is, if you’re an old-timer like me.
Remember the classic show Happy Days? Remember how The Fonz would appear on his motorcycle, wearing his 50s-style leather jacket? During the 1970s and early 1980s, Fonzie became one of America’s greatest cultural icons. Today, by visiting the San Diego Automotive Museum, you can see a motorcycle and leather jacket that actor Henry Winkler used while portraying The Fonz!
I visited the museum last weekend and took a few photos. Check it out!

Uniforms, space suits, armors, weapons and other props used in the filming of Star Trek: Discovery have been previewed at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. The exhibit in the Gaslamp Quarter includes some really incredible pieces. A good number of Federation and Klingon items are on display. I took some photos!
After looking at this incredible exhibit, I definitely want to check out the upcoming television series on CBS All Access. The story will take place about a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series.

The Futurism and Tech Pavilion at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con occupies a large area of one floor inside the Omni Hotel.
There’s a super cool, free attraction during 2017 Comic-Con that relatively few people seem to know about. It’s the Futurism and Tech Pavilion, located up that long glass-enclosed escalator in the Omni Hotel.

Scary cosplay outside in the Gaslamp promoting the TV series Medinah. It’s late Wednesday afternoon. It’s 2017 San Diego Comic-Con Preview Night!
I couldn’t go into the San Diego Convention Center for Preview Night this year. (I was fortunate to do so a couple times in the past.) So instead I walked around outside and took photos of the late afternoon fun.
Not much cosplay, but I did spot a couple instances of it. Mostly it was just people wandering about looking at the many pop culture attractions that are open free to the public. That’s one very cool aspect of San Diego Comic-Con!

Late this morning, behind the San Diego Convention Center, I was surprised to see that the line for Hall H wasn’t long at all. As I post this blog, I’ll bet that’s no longer the case! Hall H is where the blockbuster panels take place…starting tomorrow. It will be a nice warm night to enjoy camping on concrete!
One more day until Comic-Con officially begins. I saw some cool stuff as I walked about, so naturally I took photos…
