Cool photo memories from April 2019.

San Diego never disappoints. So many cool events were held in April five years ago that I had a difficult time selecting which ones to revisit as this new month begins!

Back in April 2019, my camera recorded knights in shining armor battling in Balboa Park, the inside workings of a Peruvian Navy tall ship, a wheelchair OTL tournament, a couple of Earth Day events, a tour of a United States Coast Guard cutter, Witches’ Night at the Comic-Con Museum, a local skatepark’s 20th anniversary, the Encinitas Street Fair, a big Shakespeare festival, a super fun Pet Day on the Bay…and much more!

I have 15 links coming up to blog posts that contain oodles of photographs!

Cool photo memories from March 2019.

What was going on in San Diego five years ago?

Back in 2019, during the month of March, the City of San Diego was just beginning to celebrate its 250th anniversary. Also in March there was the annual San Diego Architectural Foundation Open House event. And there was another fun Seaport Village Busker Fest. And the Comic-Con Museum’s very first exhibition. And another big Mariachi Festival in the South Bay. And Asian culture celebrated at the San Diego Museum of Art. And other exhibitions around town, and cool street art to be found, and, and, and…

I’ve collected 18 links for you to explore. They will take you to blog posts from five years ago this month. You can enjoy hundreds of photographs!

Fun photos that celebrate Leap Day!

February 29 is Leap Day!

Leap Day comes around once every four years–usually. Here’s a description provided by Wikipedia: In the Gregorian calendar, the standard civil calendar used in most of the world, February 29 is added in each year that is an integer multiple of four unless it is evenly divisible by 100 but not by 400. For example, 1900 was not a leap year but 2000 was.

It’s 2024, so Leap Day will be adding one extra day to the year.

Here’s a fun celebration of Leap Day!

I’ve gone through my old blog posts and found photographs taken around San Diego that depict great leaps. So let’s jump to it…

Cool photo memories from January 2019.

Five years ago, during the month of January, I shared hundreds of photographs from a variety of interesting walks around San Diego. It’s time to revisit some of those old blog posts from 2019!

Roaming through diverse neighborhoods, I had fun discovering all sorts of public art. I encountered a group of superheroes in Balboa Park. I walked through snow in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in the mountains east of San Diego. I enjoyed a very cool museum annex that few people visit. But my favorite memory is the “book pass” event at the new library in Mission Hills.

Five years ago, during the month of December, San Diego experienced several festive holiday events, including December Nights, a briefly resurgent Christmas on the Prado, and fun activities around the Holiday Bowl.

I took photographs of these events and shared them here on Cool San Diego Sights!

Cool photo memories from November 2018.

November has arrived. Time to post another five-years-ago blog!

November 2018 was the last time Star of India sailed. I captured photos back then of the historic tall ship heading out into the ocean. (The Star of India is sailing again this November 11th and 12th!)

There were several Veterans Day events, too, including the annual parade. (This year the parade is on the 12th.)

I also enjoyed a variety of adventures, including a visit to the Cabrillo National Monument tide pools and a peek inside a World War II bunker.

Here come links to past blog posts for you to explore!
