A hungry zombie eyes dinner at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con . . . and it’s me!
If you are nervous or squeamish, don’t look at these photos or read the captions. I’m warning you. It’s all quite gruesome.
The events you are about to witness happened today at 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. Some of the fans were completely unprepared for what happened…
Everyone was having a great time at Comic-Con. I was just wandering about, not paying very close attention. That place looks cool. I’ll go check that out. I wonder what they mean by Deadquarters? They’ve got a nice lounge! Awesome! My feet are tired!Let’s all sit here and watch AMC’s show The Walking Dead. How entertaining and relaxing.Oh, wow! They’ve got pinball, too! This place rocks!A lady suddenly screamed and started running! Huh? What happened?Oh my gosh. That door says Dead Inside, and some hands are trying to open it from the inside.Oh my goodness! They’ve got zombies loose in here! Where’d they come from.Thank goodness this one doesn’t seem to see me.But this one does!Get away from me! I probably don’t taste all that good! The Walking Dead Encounter! I wish I’d seen that sooner. Maybe some caffeine from a Mountain Dew will help me escape . . .I see fans of The Walking Dead are learning fighting skills to fend off these hungry zombies.A tiny version of Deadpool was swinging a bat wrapped with barbed wire. I think he nailed a couple zombies.Over here, quick! Help! Where’s that little superhero?Nobody seems to take these zombies very seriously. Watch out, people! They actually appear to be hungry!Told you so!

The first of the Walking Dead have arrived in San Diego for 2017 Comic-Con. Fortunately, this guy was able to jump out of a hungry zombie’s grasp just in time.
Workers at AMC’s Deadquarters on MLK Promenade are busy preparing for a zombie apocalypse! A small army of walking dead will be attending 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, and we’d like these hungry zombies to feel right at home.
As I walked around downtown this morning taking photos, it appeared to me that some of the living dead have already arrived!
In anticipation of rampaging zombies, workers at AMC’s Deadquarters on MLK Promenade are applying stains to the shabby furniture. This worker is busy applying blood to a file cabinet. Because gory zombies like to feel at home when they gather around old, dilapidated junk.A lot of work is required to prepare for your average zombie apocalypse.I saw this bloody-looking Derry High School bus in the Petco Interactive Zone. Looks to me like it already brought in a few zombies. They might be walking around San Diego right now…

Saturday evening, an army of zombies was spotted gathering in San Diego’s Children’s Park, getting ready to attack thousands of innocent humans attending 2016 Comic-Con.
I made it out alive. As you’ll see–just barely.
The 2016 San Diego Comic-Con zombie walk featured a huge army of bloodthirsty undead. They gathered in Children’s Park this evening and prepared to attack innocent humans hanging around San Diego’s nearby Gaslamp Quarter. I got away before the carnage began.
I was quickly reminded that I was living meat, so I kept a very careful distance. And I prayed these were slow zombies. The undead kept gravitating toward the city park. Where they came from, I don’t know. They were on a mission. They planned to swarm into the nearby Gaslamp Quarter, where it was dinnertime and they could feast on innocent diners. Many of these walking dead appeared to be in a rather poor state of health. Why did they keep eyeing me?Goodness! Even a magical woodland fairy succumbed to the zombie plague. I’m not sure why I’m hanging around.Oh, horrors! Trump and Hillary have both become zombies! I guess we’re all doomed no matter what.I’ve seen this gruesome dude before. I think I have a photo of him on my blog from another San Diego zombie walk. I guess the undead really never die. This guy could use a moist towelette and very large bandage. How sweet. Mom zombie and son zombie are going to join the coming rampage. Family time together is so heartwarming and wonderful.Unless, of course, Mom zombie takes a bite of her undead son. I guess she couldn’t wait to seek out normal human flesh. This must be the hippest, best dressed zombie I ever saw. A hostess might be tricked and let him into one of those more fancy restaurants in the Gaslamp. When you’re a zombie, and you want to video the coming carnage, what do you do? You jam a GoPro directly into your bloody skull. Just keep the lens clean.I don’t think plastic surgery will fix that. The zombies listened (to the best of their ability) as the plan of attack was laid before them. The city’s living residents seemed completely doomed. I thought it wise at this point to discretely walk away.Oh, no! Too late!

Creepy skulls await visitors near entrance to The Haunted Trail. Many visitors will scream this coming Halloween season.
Is it nearly Autumn? That means Halloween is quickly approaching! And so are the usual nightmarish horrors!
I saw during a walk through Balboa Park’s west end that The Haunted Trail is under construction. Around Halloween, the annual outdoor “haunted house” scares even the bravest living residents of San Diego. Passing through the dark, ghostly trees at night might be scary enough, but imagine being surrounded by legions of hellish ghouls and flesh-eating zombies!
I conquered my own fear and poked my camera over a fence to record the coming terror…
The Haunted Trail is under construction on the west end of Balboa Park. Workers seem to be just getting started.Bloody decapitated heads on pikes will scare thrill-seekers in the dark of night!Various dummies arranged on the leafy ground. Like the undead, they will soon rise! What would Halloween be without a pumpkin head? And some ghouls, ghosts, specters and miscellaneous whatnot. That’s one big pile of terribly mangled bodies. It almost looks like what happens during a fumble in football.I thought one grim reaper was quite enough, thank you!And to top it all off, a good old spooky demon with horns. October must be approaching!

Runner in Balboa Park passes behind a grinning ghoul!
This morning I was nearly frightened out of my wits. I was taking a nice brisk walk up the west side of Balboa Park, enjoying the fresh air and at peace with the world…when I found myself surrounded! I couldn’t escape from silent ghosts rising from the cold ground all around me! A catastrophe! The horror! I had met my doom!
Oh, thank goodness, I realized at last. It’s just the Haunted Trail. You know, the yearly outdoor “haunted house” that’s extremely popular in San Diego around Halloween.
The spooky attraction, which brings in thousands of thrill-seekers on dark Autumn nights, is under construction once again. It’s larger than ever and looks super spooky. I walked around the perimeter and tried to get a bunch of cool daytime photos for you to enjoy. Here they are…
Black-robed ghosts and grim reapers are rising in the popular Halloween attraction.A ghost town in the mournful trees contains many grisly and horrible surprises!Welcome to Silent Hill, where nightmares rise from a well.Props piled on ground behind a school bus filled with Halloween frights. In late September, the Haunted Trail is a work in progress.Mangled cloth mannequins lie limp and lifeless on dead leaves.Artists creating the scary park trail use gallons of paint each year.Entrance to Haunted Trail rises again this year, as do many spooky old props.Close look at skulls embedded in the castle-like entrance.Structure made of skeleton bones beside a Haunted Trail sign just inside entrance. Here’s that huge bloody yeti I took a pic of last year, just as frightening as ever! This poor guy has sat in that electric chair for so many years he must have a stiff back.Surprise! Another zombie, ghoul or creature ready to scare a nice fun-seeking visitor. This prop lying on the ground is quite eerie and realistic.A ravenous, hellish hound prowls among tombstones in a dark cemetery.I suppose all the undead have risen from this scary graveyard on the Haunted Trail!

Here’s another batch of photos from yesterday evening’s cool Zombie Walk. The downtown San Diego event began at Childrens Park and proceeded down Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade. As it grew dark, the hungry creatures swarmed up Fifth Avenue through the Gaslamp, where the spectacle entertained Saturday night revelers.
Oh my goodness, here they come now! Teletubby zombies lead the frightening assault!
Yikes! There are hundreds of hungry zombies shuffling along! They’re unstoppable! Seeping blood and torn clothing seem to be the main theme.
I hope the humans over in the Gaslamp are ready to take on more than zombies. I see a werewolf!
Dilbert thought his coworkers were mindless zombies. Then one day Dilbert became one.
The walking dead include a bloody Superman. If the Man of Steel couldn’t stop the zombie plague, then I guess there’s no hope.
Another zombie with an axe searching for a victim…
Hoardes of walking dead are now very close to San Diego’s Gaslamp. It’s not going to be pretty.
Well, I guess the zombies aren’t hungry for the red sauce served at the Spaghetti Factory. They’re after something else! Bye–gotta run!
The San Diego Zombie Walk took place last evening. The spooky Halloween season event was staged at Childrens Park, across Harbor Drive from the Convention Center. I got some photos!
Zombies could be seen converging on the park from every direction. There seemed to be no stopping them.
Here comes an undead bride in her blood-splattered bridal gown. Pedestrians have fled every which way!
This towering, bloody butcher has nearly captured a helpless victim. Everyone in downtown San Diego surely heard the lady’s blood-curdling scream of terror!
The walking dead, some of them terribly decayed and disfigured, gathered in the park with a singular purpose. To feast on flesh!
Some of these zombies might smile, but don’t let it fool you. The one in the cowboy hat is about to get a surprise!
It might be a good idea to NOT kiss these zombie chefs. Looks awfully unsanitary.
What a nice zombie dad, zombie girl and zombie mom. The latter can’t seem to take her zombie fingers from her zombie phone.
This sweet, loving couple would like to meet new friends. And so would their chainsaw.
