Buttworld Bounce House at San Diego Comic-Con!

Bottoms up San Diego! This isn’t your ordinary bounce house. It’s the Rick and Morty Buttworld Bounce House!

The Adult Swim offsite for Comic-Con 2025 is now being built behind the San Diego Convention Center. And right next to the boardwalk are giant rolls of toilet paper, massive plungers, and a bunch of fat, gross, inflated behinds! Yes, this activation might be ass-inine, butt… What fun!

Do you dare enter the bouncy Buttworld dimension? What if other Adult Swim visitors have eaten beans? How sanitary is this? But–but–but–

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes sequel films near USS Midway!

Another sequel to cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is filming today in San Diego. I saw the production crew out on the wooden boardwalk just south of the USS Midway, and the scene was of tomato mayhem!

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence is the name of this latest sequel according to IMDb. It’s described as “Jurassic Park” meets “Dr. Strangelove” which sounds like more campy absurd crazy fun. I did see an alligator on the set, so there’s at least one reptile among the rolling red vegetables!

Are those giant tomatoes co-stars in the film? Who plays Doctor Doom? Oops–wrong franchise.

Is this what tomato Armageddon looks like? You can spy the alligator on the right in the next photo–or is that a crocodile? Must’ve escaped from the San Diego Zoo.

Thank goodness they’ve caged one of the rampant ripe vegetables. Or, wait–is a tomato a fruit?

Man versus an overgrown villainous vegetable. Who is victorious?

An insane Halloween display in San Diego!

This front yard Halloween display has no equal in San Diego!

A wonderfully insane scene erected beside a sidewalk greets those passing through Serra Mesa. If you’ve driven down Murray Ridge Road, you’ve probably seen it.

This particular front yard has a history of immense displays that are jammed full of characters. The hand made figures are grimly humorous and madly inventive. The popular culture is often referenced, the San Diego Padres are rooted on, and our military is saluted. There’s politics mixed in too with a good helping of sarcasm.

Seeing all the bloody mayhem, one might develop goosebumps, or cringe, or laugh!

I’ve briefly spotted these crazy displays in years past. Because Halloween is approaching, I wanted a close look.

Thanks for visiting Cool San Diego Sights!

Revisiting some strange, weird, bizarre stuff!

Over the years, I’ve shared photographs of some really weird stuff!

Given how I just blogged about a yellow bison on a Golden Hill rooftop, and how I recently posted photos of that goofy Wienerschnitzel street art in Imperial Beach, I thought I’d revisit other examples of strange, weird, wonderfully bizarre stuff that have appeared on Cool San Diego Sights!

In addition to viewing artwork that’s highly unusual, by clicking the following links you’ll feast your eyeballs on crazy cosplay, bizarre cars, flamethrowing bagpipes, a cattle drive through downtown San Diego, and other wacky stuff!

Perplexing photos from various walks!

During my walks around the city, I sometimes will blink my eyes with astonishment.

Because what they see is strange and unexpected, and occasionally bizarre!

These photos were all taken in the past couple of weeks…

What’s wrong with this picture?

The other day I was walking along the Embarcadero past Ruocco Park when I took this rather bizarre photograph.

What’s wrong with this picture?

If that fellow wearing orange is a huge soccer fan playing golf on an urban course that features five foot diameter holes, clearly nothing is wrong!

Wienerschnitzel street art in IB!

I’m not sure how to handle this material without sounding raunchy. But I’m going to say it:

A small work of street art at Wienerschnitzel’s drive-through in Imperial Beach shows a wiener with a woody at the beach.

Seriously!

In the background you can see the Imperial Beach pier, and the wiener, rising between buns, staring with an astonished expression out of one window, is transporting what appears to be a surfboard.

I don’t know when this artwork was created, or by whom. It’s faded and stained. This humorous fast food surf scene looks like a dirty impressionist painting.

Or perhaps my brain is addled. And this improbable vision is nothing but a crazy dream, the result of eating too many yummy chili cheese fries.

More odd photos that make you look twice!

Here’s another batch of odd photographs that might make you look twice!

I captured all of these images in the past couple weeks during walks around San Diego.

Some of these are so strange and mysterious even I’m perplexed!
