I took this series of beautiful photographs today during sunset at Torrey Pines State Beach.
Enjoy!

Would you like to see some amazing sunset photos?
I happened to be in the right place at the right time as the sun set this evening. I was walking along Balboa Park’s West Mesa, looking up at lace-like, brightly lit clouds, when color began to seep into the sky.
As I continued south the sun descended. When I reached Marston Point, the sun’s last red rays peeped over Point Loma in the distance.
In some of these photos you can see not only the nearby buildings of Bankers Hill, but distant Point Loma, and glimpses of San Diego Bay and even North Island. In one photograph you can see a small part of the downtown skyline.

This evening I sat on a bench by the fountains of Waterfront Park and watched the sun slowly set behind the beautiful tall ship Star of India.
As light turned from silver to gold, I took this series of photographs…

This beautiful October evening I walked along the Embarcadero as the sun slowly neared the horizon. Golden light was cast over San Diego Bay when the sun slipped behind a few clouds.
Many others were out walking by Seaport Village. Some lingered on the nearby pier. Those aircraft carriers you see across the bay are docked at Naval Air Station North Island, at the north end of Coronado. The rock band I passed while walking along the water at Embarcadero Marina Park North is called Thundermaier. They sounded really good.
It was a nice cool evening. Perfect for an easy stroll.

After taking an amazing sunset photo from the top floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt (see previous post), I headed down the elevator and walked up the Embarcadero.
The sunset across San Diego Bay became even more dramatic as I passed Tuna Harbor, Ruocco Park and the USS Midway. I took one last photograph when I finally arrived at Broadway Pier.

Just before sunset this evening, I took an elevator to the 40th Floor of the Manchester Grand Hyatt. I knew there would be an incredible sunset.
From one of the hotel’s large observation windows, I watched boats moving beneath dramatic clouds across the water.
I then walked along the Embarcadero as the clouds turned rosy. Those photos are coming up…
These aren’t actual oil paintings. They’re photographs that I took last night along the Embarcadero, made to look like impressionistic oil paintings with GIMP graphic software.
Can you recognize many of these beautiful nighttime sights on San Diego Bay?

San Diego is beautiful.
I never grow tired of walking through my city.
This evening I arrived at Waterfront Park right as the sun was setting behind Star of India and the ships of the Maritime Museum.
I walked to the inky bay, then turned south and strolled along the Embarcadero as the sunset slowly faded above the horizon.
I passed the Cruise Ship Terminal and paused near the foot of Broadway Pier to listen to some musicians, and gaze out at the Port Pavilion and USS Midway.
I then turned east down Broadway and quickened my pace as I headed for home.
My camera doesn’t take the best photographs in growing darkness, but I got a few pretty good ones this evening that I’d like to share…

It was unusually hot and humid today. So after work I headed down to the Embarcadero, to enjoy cooler air coming off San Diego Bay.
I boarded the beautiful, historic tall ship Star of India and, breathing in fresh air, watched changing clouds and the summer sun as it slowly descended. I saw many sailboats. It was a perfect day to be above the shining water.

It was another beautiful evening on San Diego’s Embarcadero. I went for a slow walk.
What more can I say?
