There’s a relatively new mural in North Park that replaces a cosmic mural that I blogged about here. This cool spray paint street art features two sexy space warriors and several wacky aliens! You can find it near the corner of El Cajon Boulevard and 30th Street.
It appears to me that certain elements of the old mural have been preserved. Have you “eyed” it?
I recently learned that a special utility box painting event will be taking place in North Park all along University Avenue and 30th Street tomorrow, and I hope to be there for the creativity, live music and fun! But right now I seem to be coming down with a cold, plus rain is predicted–so we’ll see. If I go I’ll take photos!

Check out this very cool art on an electrical transformer! I discovered it near a bus stop, directly across Orange Avenue from Coronado island’s famous Hotel Del Coronado. Other utility boxes on the sidewalk closeby were painted in similar fashion. In addition to dolphins and a sexy mermaid, I saw some colorful coral and a sea turtle!
This morning I took a stroll through Spanish Village on the north end of Balboa Park. Spanish Village is a wonderful, colorful place where many local artists have small studios. Not many people were about yet, just one older gentleman setting up some impressionist paintings in the courtyard. I snapped a number of pics of the motley, surprising studios, and this photograph is pretty striking.
The silvery, sexy mermaid sports a naval cap atop her long hair and stands ready to defend Studio 18!
This morning I strolled down to San Diego’s always dynamic Embarcadero before the late August heat and rare humidity became unbearable. I wanted to get pics of the 2013 U.S. Sandcastle Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exhibition out on the cruise ship terminal pier before it opened. Yes, I’d rather not pay for admission. I’m cheap! Unfortunately, a security guard was posted at the entrance, and all I could snap was the awesome (and sexy) lady pirate sculpture in front by the sidewalk entrance. If it cools down tomorrow or Labor Day, perhaps I’ll splurge and check out the many amazing sand sculptures and other artwork!
