Wander the streets of OB and you’ll encounter lots of fun urban art, including a variety of cool faces.
Here are a few cool faces I photographed while randomly walking along the busy sidewalks of Ocean Beach. Mosey around OB and your eyes will be dazzled by amazing street art wherever you turn. Some of that artwork stares right back at you!

Imaginative urban artwork decorates a building wall in San Diego’s North Park.

These super creative street murals were photographed during a walk in North Park. I believe all of this art was located along University Avenue, in the neighborhood of 30th Street. A colorful urban vibe is combined with uninhibited imagination and bold artistry. Take a look!

A group of young skateboarders cruises down C Street.
Here are a few scenes from my walk (and trolley ride) today around downtown San Diego. There is beauty, there is color, there is grit, there is life. My fascination with the dynamic city that I call home is never-ending.

Here come photos of another Bart Club utility box! This fun street art can be found in North Park at the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and 30th Street.
This is the fourth instance of zany Bart Simpson artwork I’ve documented on the Cool San Diego Sights blog. You might recall there’s another Bart Club utility box in North Park, not very far from this one.

Mermaids are an element in street art painted on outside wall of The Merrow.
Check out these photos of two building walls in Hillcrest. Both border a short driveway and tiny parking lot on University Avenue, next to The Merrow, a bar that features great live music, and Tabletop Commons, a cool eatery where diners can also play a huge assortment of games.
After looking at the names on one mural, and doing some searching on the internet, I believe these were spray painted–at least in part–by the prolific street artist Fizix. If someone knows more, leave a comment!

SILO in Makers Quarter keeps evolving. New murals are painted over old, and once-blank walls fill up with life. This unique event venue in East Village was pretty cool when I photographed it over a year ago, but now it’s simply awesome. (I did observe, sadly, the funny Bart Club art I documented here has vanished.)
A hummingbird seems attracted to a jogger coming down the 15th Street sidewalk.A bather, a turtle, a frog and KAABOO, an upcoming major music festival to be held in Del Mar up the coast.Graffiti faces are all squished up on the wall between SILO in Makers Quarter and F Street in East Village.Various street art designs where a branch of the Bart Club used to reside.Napping white female outline and some geometric crystals.A wall just inside SILO is jammed with cool urban art.This hip event venue has benches, tables and other items scattered about a wide open space.Endless Bummer, big cat, third eye in purple face, fantastic creature, and a ton of other awesome stuff.Super colorful artwork jammed onto this low wall almost appears like panels in a comic book or graphic novel.Want to book an event? A shopper standing on the asphalt braces against a Horton Plaza parking lot wall. Others have climbed up onto her shoulders.People mount higher and higher like circus performers, trying to get a glimpse over the wall. Something wonderful must await on the other side!This stack of humanity is beginning to resemble the Tower of Babel. I hope they don’t fall!Don’t believe the hype! That’s some mighty tall street art!
This impressive street art is visible on the south side of the Horton Plaza shopping mall, on G Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. It was painted in 2010 by Brazilian graffiti artists Os Gemeos, which is Portuguese for The Twins. The artists, who were breakdancers before they started painting graffiti almost 30 years ago, have become quite a sensation! The project was sponsored and promoted by the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. But should we believe the hype?

Small, vacant eyes stare up from a seldom used bridge in downtown San Diego.
A pedestrian bridge in downtown San Diego spans Interstate 5. It’s almost never used. From the extreme end of a large, mostly vacant parking lot below the Veteran’s Museum, it arches high over the wide, busy freeway and descends to a securely gated parking lot next to San Diego City College’s sports fields. It leads mostly nowhere.
I’ve lived about a mile away for over a decade, but I’ve never set foot on the bridge–until this afternoon. Walking up Park Boulevard, I’ve often gazed at the distant bridge and wondered if it was open. Never once have I seen a soul on it.
I suppose people must visit this place at times, because the bridge is absolutely covered with both new and old graffiti. It’s a singularly lonely place, enclosed in fencing, suspended above unseen drivers flashing by in anonymous cars below.
Here are some random photographs. Who applied these small artistic faces? The eyes never blink.

There’s one little old building in a corner of downtown San Diego that’s very difficult to miss. That’s because it’s loaded with ultra-awesome street art!
These murals are painted on an otherwise unremarkable structure in the East Village neighborhood. The building is occupied by Undisputed Fitness, an establishment where locals train themselves as boxers and MMA fighters. All this artwork is visible near the corner of 16th Street and K Street.
My last blog post concerned a mechanical shark mural. You can see the rear portion of that mural in the final photograph.
