Here’s a collection of amusing photos I took today while walking around San Diego Comic-Con.
At least, they are amusing to me.
I’ve heard of pitching with extra mustard on it, but this is ridiculous.A little girl who hates clowns couldn’t wait to see Pennywise munched to pieces by Sharkzilla. The black Symbiote Costume is making Spider-Man act a bit erratically. It’s Bullwinkle!A rather odd pair.Waiting patiently for the next moon walk. That cosplay photo won’t fit in one frame.Joker tells reporter this town needs an enema.Fortunately, this guy doesn’t need any sunscreen.A great Spaceballs cosplay! Woohoo! I gotta watch that movie again.Captain Marvel somehow ended up in a police lineup.Forgive me, but I laughed.Completely absurd. But that’s one wonderful aspect Comic-Con!I think that’s Lumière from Beauty and the Beast. Or a guy who missed a payment on his electric bill.I’m not convinced. Try to be more gruesome next time.A smiling Ebenezer Scrooge can’t be too far behind.Looks like these stormtroopers just got back from a vacation in Hawaii.
Six blog posts in one day is a record for me. I suppose I’m having too much fun.
Perhaps I should take a nap.

You don’t really eat these pancakes, it’s more like they eat you. A funny The Good Place quote at the door of Maryjane’s restaurant during 2019 Comic-Con.
I spotted even more fun (and funny) stuff outside 2019 Comic-Con during my walk this morning!
There are some building wraps I hadn’t previously seen, and I found a couple new ones that are now being applied. I saw that the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel is being converted into the Superstore. I also noted the Warner Brothers offsite on the grass south of the Omni hotel, which will feature Detective Pikachu and Shazam, is starting to take shape…

Game of Thrones and Stan Lee inspired cocktails?Syfy has moved to Seventh and J Street for 2019 Comic-Con. I believe you can catch their fun karaoke bus and trivia trolleys here.A cool Star Trek: Discovery wrap is being applied to the north side of the Omni Hotel. The Warner Brothers offsite has erected an archway that says Chilladelphia Winter Carnival. You might remember the big, climactic scene in Shazam!Freddy Freeman and his pal Shazam are perched atop another arch!

Enjoy!

That big bronze pelican standing by the Pacific Beach Lifeguard Station is one cool bird! His name is Pelican Brown.
Legend has it Pelican Brown was observed dancing at the ballroom that used to be located at the end of Crystal Pier. Dressed up in his best velvet vest, he danced the PB Tango!
This fun public art was created in 2004 for the City of San Diego by artists T.J. Dixon and James Nelson. A nearby plaque on the lifeguard station contains the poem The Ballad of P.B., which was written by Jan Phillips.
The amusing poem begins:
Pelican Brown was in search of a home where he could have fun and relax. He looked for a beach that was pretty and a sea that was swimming with snacks.
He flew up and down the long coastline looking both far and quite near. Then, one day he knew he had found it when his eyes saw the great Crystal Pier.
What happens next? Does the story have a happy ending?
Read the entire poem and learn more about the artists at the Project Pelican Brown web page, which you can visit by clicking here!
