As you might have read in my last post, lots of folks converged upon Balboa Park today in a variety of historical costumes. They were celebrating the beautiful park’s one hundred year anniversary.
Most of these participants headed to the International Cottages area in the early afternoon, where a costume parade, chivalry event, dramatic performance from Shakespeare, and other activities took place. The House of England held an English Village Fete on the lawn.
I missed most events but did capture some fun pics…

I was there from around 12:15-2:15 and keep expecting to show up in one of your pictures 🙂 Tomorrow is another England event with music and a Beatles tribute band from 2-3. I took several pictures today but haven’t written my blog post about it yet.
I look forward to seeing your photos! I’ll miss tomorrow–got lots of stuff to do! Have a great rest of the weekend!
You, too!
That’s great! A nice look of an English fete, with all the period costumes. Cool train set & Bet the San Diego honey is nice as well. Looks like you all had a fun time. “Join us for a nice cuppa tea!” That sounds perfect to me :o)
It was a little bit of England over here in the colonies!
Looks great fun!!
It was!
Loved the show. Nice photos, Richard. One of the other observers was caught by your camera in several pics. The older gentleman with the black jacket, grey pants and black hat. Were you following him or was he following you?
Probably just a coincidence. I walked around the lawn area for a good while and just took a bunch of pics at random!
It’s a mad world – but great fun! 😀
A little madness now and then doesn’t hurt!
